NET
Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) is a trauma-focused therapy developed specifically for individuals who have experienced multiple or complex traumatic events — including war, displacement, violence, and abuse. NET works by helping you construct a coherent life narrative, placing traumatic memories within the broader context of your life story. This process reduces the emotional charge of traumatic memories and integrates them into your autobiography in a way that restores a sense of self and agency.
How NET Works in Practice
Working at your pace, we build a timeline of your life together — acknowledging both painful experiences and moments of strength, resilience, and joy. Rather than avoiding traumatic memories, NET guides you through them in a safe and structured way, reducing their power over your present life. This approach has strong evidence for PTSD and complex trauma, and is particularly suited to individuals from conflict-affected regions. I have applied this approach with clients from diverse backgrounds during my work at the Restart Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence.
